What are things looking like for the packers?
Hello everyone, and welcome to my sports blog "Crystal Sideline Buzz." My name is Crystal Williams, and I am a blogger, content creator on TikTok and YouTube, and a student sports editor. Today, I will be discussing the Green Bay Packers and their prospects for the remainder of the season.
The Packers vs the Ravens
On Saturday, the Green Bay Packers faced the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field, and Baltimore dominated the Packers, keeping their playoff hopes alive and knocking the team out of contention for the NFC North.
Derrick Henry took over the entire night with 216 rushing yards and four touchdowns, tying a career high and setting a record in Lambeau Field. The Ravens piled up 307 rushing yards as a team, controlling the tempo from start to finish. Backup Quarterback Tyler Huntley was efficient and steady with 16/20 passing yards, 107 yards and 1 touchdown, plus 60 rushing yards. Green Bay's defense struggled the entire night, with only one stop on the Ravens' drive that didn't end in points.
As for the Green Bay Packers, with the star QB Jordan Love out with a concussion, Backup Malik Willis delivered some strong performances that had many fans surprised. 18/21 passing, 288 yards 1touchdown, with 134.6 rating. While also adding a total of nine rushes for extra yardage, despite his effort, Green Bay couldn't keep up with Baltimore's run.
Henry scored three touchdowns in the first half, putting the Packers in an early hole, and Marlin Humphrey's interception off a dropped pass sealed the game with about seven minutes left.
What does this mean for Green Bay?
Right now, the Packers are 9-6-1, which means they are in the wild card spot, the Packers has a devasting list of injured just from Saturday's game alone players such as Zayne Anderson (Ankle), Defensive tackle Jordan Riley (Achillies), Wide Reciever Dontayvion Wicks (Concussion), cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee) and Cornerback Kamal Hadden (ankle). Multiple sources confirm that Green Bay can no longer move up the NFC North Playoff picture after losing three straight and dropping this one to Baltimore.
Sources like Packers Wire note that Green Bay has now lost three straight games, and the team "doesn't look like a group that will make any noise in January." This team has given up 308+ rushing yards and 41 points is the worst defensive showing of the season. That's not the kind of performance you want heading into the postseason.
The bottom line is, yes, the Packers are still in the playoffs, but they are not in the best condition, defense is very shaky, and the Quarterback situation is uncertain. They'll be on the road in the first round.
