Rondale Moore passed away at 25

Hello everyone, and welcome to Crystal Sidelines Buzz. My name is Crystal Williams. I am a student sports editor, blogger, YouTuber, and content creator. Today, we mourn the loss of former Purdue, Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore, who passed away on Saturday.

Rondale Moore

Rondale Moore was considered to be the most dynamic player in college football during his freshman year with the Purdue Boilermakers. In 2018, Moore was a consensus All-American, Paul Warfield Trophy winner, and the CBS freshman of the Year. He had 1,258 yards receiving, 213 yards rushing, and 14 total touchdowns. He played several games in both his sophomore and junior years.  Moore was selected in the second round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL draft. In March of 2024, Moore was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for quarterback Desmond Ridder. Later on, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve that August after suffering a knee injury early in training camp. In march of  2025, Moore was a free Agent and was signed to the Minnesota Vikings.

Purdue football headcoach Jeff Brohm described Moore as a complete joy, "The ultimate competitor that wouldn't back down from any challenge. Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone. A great teammate that would come through in any situation," he said. Coach Brohm continued saying how the team loved Rondale, from his smile to his competitiveness, which has always shone a spotlight on anyone he came in contact with.

Moore's former team, the Minnesota Vikings, released a statement regarding his passing: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rondale Moore." They continued on by stating, "While we are working to understand the facts, we have spoken with Rondale's family to offer communication with our players to anyone in need. Our thoughts are with Rondale's family and friends during this devastating time."

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell has also made a statement: "I am devastated by the news of Rondale's death." He continues on: "While Rondale had been a member of the Vikings for a short time, he was someone we came to know well and care about deeply. He was a humble, soft-spoken, and respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots. As a player, he was disciplined, dedicated, and resilient despite facing adversity multiple times as injuries sidelined him throughout his career. We are all heartbroken by the fact that he won't continue to live out his NFL dream, and we won't all have a chance to watch him flourish. My prayers are with Rondale's family and friends. teammates and coaches as we all deal with this tragic news."

The Incident

On Saturday, sources say that Moore was found in a garage with a self-inflicted gunshot wound; his death is still under investigation.
